Coloring over highlighted hair?

I had my hair highlighted about 2 months ago. The roots are coming in my natural brown hair color. Should I use a blonde hair color to fill in the roots or should I use my natural hair color? Or what else should I do?

is your highlights Blond? If they are just put it on the roots, If it's another color put that on...Unless you want to take the highlights out,then use your natural hair color

I have naturally dark brown hair with honey highlights. A month ago I found a picture of a dark brown slightly red cast color. The hairdresser put it on and at first it was very dark but after a few weeks has washed/faded out to a great color that is exactly what I wanted. The highlights come through the color and glow. There are no root touch ups like with blond and is less damaging.
